Kinesia Software
The Kinesia clinical software provides a user friendly method for managing patient information, evaluating patient symptoms, automated symptom scoring and generating reports. A patient database allows clinicians to enter and save patient demographic information, manage data files and store and save symptom reports. For research purposes, a data collection screen allows the user to view and save raw motion data being collected with the device. A review data option enables the user to open and scroll through data files, apply analysis techniques and add notes.
The
Clinical Evaluation Mode of the Kinesia software provides video and verbal instruction to guide patients through motor tasks similar to those completed during the Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale motor exam. Videos are available for evaluating rest, postural and kinetic tremor as well as finger tapping, hand opening/closing and pronation/supination. Custom video sets can be created and saved by the clinician to be unique for each patient or study. While the Parkinson’s disease patient completes the exam, data is automatically collected, saved and symptoms scored from 0 to 4 based on the Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale. Saved data can be accessed and reviewed for analysis pertaining to specific studies or pharmaceutical trials.
Automated Tremor Scoring is currently available for rest, postural and kinetic tremor tasks as well as finger tapping, hand opening/closing and pronation/supination. After a Parkinson’s disease patient completes an upper extremity task exam, videos for evaluating tremor are automatically scored based on severity from 0 to 4, which correlates to scores provided during a Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale exam. Finger tapping, hand opening/closing and pronation/supination tasks are also assigned a 0 to 4 severity score for the speed, amplitude and rhythm of each task. By offering automated symptom scoring, clinicians are provided with repeatable, objective information on a patient’s symptoms.
After evaluating a patient using the Clinical Evaluation Mode, clinicians can generate and save Customized Symptom Reports. Images depicting symptoms over the course of months, weeks, days and hours are available for inclusion in the reports, depending on how often Kinesia was used, and symptoms are color coded based on severity. A table is also included showing the time and date each individual evaluation took place along with the correlating rest, postural and kinetic tremor and finger tapping, hand opening/closing and pronation/supination scores. Report information is then exported to a Word document, which can be customized with specific institution and clinician information.
