CleveMed Honored as Tibbetts Award Winner
Washington, D.C. -
Cleveland Medical Devices Inc (CleveMed) of Cleveland, Ohio has been selected as one of the winners of the 2006 Tibbetts Awards. Robert N. Schmidt received the award on September 26 at the Wyndham Washington, located at 1400 M Street NW in Washington, D.C.
Named for Roland Tibbetts-the person acknowledged as the father of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program-these prestigious, national awards are made annually to those small firms, projects, organizations and individuals judged to exemplify the very best in SBIR achievement. CleveMed is one of 55 companies in the U.S. to receive this award.
CleveMed was founded in 1990 with the goal of developing, manufacturing and marketing biomedical signal processing and instrumentation devices. Initially focused on the research market with applications in a variety of areas including the military, human and animal research, CleveMed has since become a leader in miniaturized telemetry, physiological monitoring and rehabilitation devices for the clinical and education markets as well.
Since
CleveMed received the 2002 Tibbetts Award, the company has nearly doubled in size; has added an additional 4 patents to its portfolio with 12 additional patents pending; has experienced significant growth in product sales; has begun developing an international distribution network to strengthen international sales growth; and has consistently been recognized for excellence both locally and nationally. With the continued generous support of the SBIR program, CleveMed has gone from an offering of 3 products with a
variety of research applications to an array of products that are focused on high-growth neurology and rehabilitation applications that address the unmet needs of the
clinical,
research and
education communities.
