CLEVELAND MEDICAL DEVICES INC. PROMOTES HANI KAYYALI TO PRESIDENT


CLEVELAND, OHIO, October 5, 2005 - Cleveland Medical Devices Inc. (CleveMed) announced the promotion of Mr. Hani Kayyali to President. In his new position, Mr. Kayyali will oversee strategic initiatives to grow the company in its focus areas, as well as day-to-day operations at CleveMed.

In February 2003, Mr. Kayyali joined CleveMed as a Program Director, where he managed ongoing neurology-based projects. He quickly transitioned to VP of Operations where he was responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the company. During his tenure with CleveMed, Mr. Kayyali managed new product development; secured FDA regulatory approval; expanded the company's manufacturing, marketing, and quality assurance departments; and increased product sales. He was also successful in winning new NIH SBIR funding.

Prior to joining CleveMed, Mr. Kayyali served as Program Director at BIOMEC, where he directed a new business unit for the development of innovative physiological monitoring products. In that position, he was also successful in winning NIH funding for technology development. Previous to his time as Program Director, Mr. Kayyali served as a Project Manager at Axon Engineering Inc, where he managed the development of miniature stimulation devices for spinal cord injured patients. Mr. Kayyali has also worked as a Senior Biomedical Engineer at Case Western Reserve University, where he developed and tested medical devices in a number of research fields, including epilepsy, respiration, urology and scoliosis.

Mr. Kayyali holds both a bachelor's of science and a master's degree in biomedical engineering from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, and an MBA from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University.
