FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CLEVELAND MEDICAL DEVICES RECEIVES FDA CLEARANCE TO MARKET THE CRYSTAL MONITOR

Cleveland, Ohio, February 21, 2002 - Cleveland Medical Devices Inc. (CleveMed), Northeast Ohio's 17th fastest growing company, today announced FDA clearance for its Crystal Monitor (R) Model 16. The programmable wireless monitor records brainwaves (Electroencephalogram (EEG)), heart function (Electrocardiogram (ECG)), muscle activity (Electromyogram (sEMG)), and sleep status (polysomnogram (PSG)) signals without physically connecting patients to bulky diagnostic equipment.

Robert N. Schmidt, president of Cleveland Medical Devices, who founded the firm in 1990, stated "This is very important because the Crystal Monitor can significantly reduce the capital expenditure for medical monitoring equipment. For the first time, doctors will be able to do initial neurology testing and sleep screening in their office or clinic, as well as the traditional heart studies they currently perform. This is particularly important for conditions or diseases such as narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome, obstructive sleep apnea and Parkinson's. It can be used throughout the doctor's office, hospital and at home to monitor patients without their having to be tethered. The small size of the equipment, the size of a deck of cards, and the use of existing PC's, reduces the cost and complexity of the diagnostic process. This is particularly important for emergency rooms, ICUs, and primary care offices, where floor space is at a premium."

The Crystal Monitor uses MicroSynthT technology to trim cost drastically compared to traditional monitoring systems. By using inexpensive crystals and high quality FM radio signals, hospitals can transmit data from a patient from anywhere in a ward, office, or home without inconveniencing the patient, or getting in the way of doctors and nurses. This same device is also used for research to non-invasively test people in micro-gravity environments.

About CleveMed

Cleveland Medical Devices Inc. (CleveMed) was founded in 1990 and incorporated in 1991 to develop, manufacture, and market proprietary rehabilitation and monitoring products. It has grown from a 1-person business to employing over 30. CleveMed has successfully secured over 17 million dollars for research and development from the Federal Government. Through this process CleveMed has developed into a world leader in the research of wireless physiological monitoring technology, pressure ulcer prevention, and biomedical instrumentation. CleveMed NeuroWave was formed in 2003 to commercialize certain biomedical signal processing algorithms of CleveMed.
